Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Jerome Burton, 62, will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.  He entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 8, at his home.

Mr. Burton was born March 4, 1955 in Corinth, Miss. to the parents Thomas H. and Ruby L. Taylor Burton, moving to the Youngstown area as a child. He was a 1973 National Honors Society graduate of North High School and attended YSU completing coursework in business. He worked 29 years for Commercial Intertech, and was most recently employed by A-Plus Building Maintenance before retirement. He found joy in bowling and barbequing with friends. He will be deeply missed.

He leaves to mourn his passing, a daughter, Jocelyn Burton of Liberty Township; two sons, Gerald Abron of Ga. and Antawune Abron of Fla.; two brothers, Tyron Burton of Copley, Oh. and Tommy Roscoe Burton of Youngstown; a special nephew, whom was like a brother, Howard Southard of Ga.; five sisters, Delores Nelson of Ga., Margaret Sink of Copley, Oh., Loletha (Ed) Landry, Tonette Burton and Marlane Burton, all of Calif.; a close friend, Sylvester Nelson; four grandchildren; one great-grand child; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, William and Pearl Lee Taylor; Thomas and Addie Burton.

He will always be remembered for his kindness and wisdom.
