Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Price Memorial AME Zion Church for Ms. Fannie Marsha Jackson, 46, of Youngstown who entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at the Northside Medical Center.

Fannie affectionately known as the “Purple Lady,” was born May 11, 1971, in Long Island, New York, a daughter of Abraham (Ham) and Bessie Bunting Jackson.  Her family relocated from New York to Youngstown in 1977.  She attended Choffin Career Center majoring in fashion design, and played volleyball and ran track at Chaney High School.  She was a 1989 graduate of East High School.  Fannie was previously employed at Kaufmann’s, Shepherd of the Valley, Hampton Inn, Lincoln Place as a counselor and Dillard’s as a sales associate, makeup artist and model.  She was a former member of Nevels Temple COGIC and later joined New Beginnings Church located on Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.  Fannie loved people and her personal ministry was reaching out and giving to others.  She was an encourager of young people and others, and an excellent mother who was very dedicated to her loving family.  She was also a talented seamstress and fashion designer who designed prom attire for her peers and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan.

She leaves to mourn her passing but to rejoice in her peace, her beloved parents, Ham and Elder Bessie Jackson of Youngstown; three children, Gerald, Joshua, and Giaunna Jackson all of Youngstown; four sisters, Debbie Jackson Woodside of Hempstead, NY, Patricia Jackson McLendon of Bellville, MI, Brenda (Rev. Arthur) Jackson-Mackey, Jr. of Roosevelt, NY, and Janet Jackson of Youngstown; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends including Margaret Harris, Katrett Huckleby, Adina Seals, Charmise Woodside-Desire’ and others whom she held dear.  A special “thank you” to Micha Dykes and Felice Owens who were helpful in so many ways.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ham Jackson, Fannie May Jackson and Bessie Smith; her uncles Thomas Jackson and Jethro Jackson; and her aunts Sarah Jordan, Gaylena Edwards, Ruby Samuels and Rebecca Logan.

Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
