Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at the Grace Evangelistic Temple Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., for Elder Roy Emmanuel Jenkins, 91, who entered his heavenly home on July 31.

He was born in Sweet Water, Ala., March 4, 1926, the son of Sam and Georgia Pritchett Jenkins.

He was a man that loved God and loved his church. He was first a member of the Pilgrims Rest United Holiness Church under the Rev. Robert Hugh, but later joined the Grace Evangelistic Temple Church, where his son was his pastor. He was an elder, a deacon and the official “taste tester and juice maker” at every event.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He was employed at Sheet & Tube Steel Mill, Ward’s Bakery, Cleaning Material and, retired from the Youngstown Street Department in December of 1993.

He was united in marriage to Treesa Pritchett on Nov. 27, 1947, and from that union he leaves one son, Bishop Chorrethers (Rev. Stephanie) Jenkins Sr.; daughters Swannie (Artimus) Scissum, Georgia West, Cecelia (Henry) Gillam, Deborah Stevenson, and Jacqueline (Tyrone) Welch; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gwendolyn D. Bunkley; and a grandson, Ivan M.D. West.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
