On Sunday, May 21, 2017, a host of Heavenly Angels met at the home of Deacon Joseph A. Levels, 93, to greet him and escort him to his mansion in the sky.

Deacon Levels, was born January 20, 1924 in Louisville, KY, a son of Joseph and Julia Grace Gaither Levels, coming to this area in the early 1950’s.  At the age of 16, Joseph began working with the U. S. Army.  He became a staff sergeant, and served until March 16, 1946.  During those years, he met the love of his life, the former Ida B. Edmondson and they were married on March 10, 1944.

Mr. Levels was a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church where he served as Emeritus and previous chairman of the Deacon Board, previous chairman of the Trustee Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher for over 20 years.

Deacon Levels leaves to mourn his passing, but rejoice in his peace, his beloved and devoted wife, Ida; four sons, Elder Joseph H. and his wife, Betty J. of Flint, MI, Kenneth A. and his wife, Barbara J. of Wildomar, CA, Larry and his wife Vera D. of Howland, Benjamin and his wife, Theresa of Diamond; a daughter, Yalonda A. McClair of Denver, CO; 32 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of family, church family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James R. Levels; a daughter, Toni Lynn Levels; two brothers, James Levels and Robert Smyzer; and three sisters, Mary Levels, Beulah Camp and Roberta Smyzer.

Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church.  Funeral Services will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m.  Deacon Level’s will be laid to rest in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
