Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Christ Centered Church (Try-C), 3300 Hudson Avenue, Youngstown for Ms. Claretta Lynn Jackson, 45, of Youngstown, who transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
Ms. Jackson, affectionately known as “Clare”, was born January 31, 1973 in Youngstown, a daughter of Clarence L. Sr. and Phyllis P. Jennings Jackson. She was a 1991 graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown State University. She had been employed on the direct care staff at Gateways to Better Living for 14 years. She was a member of Try-C, the Culinary Director for Paramore Ministries, Inc., the Pastor’s Aide, the choir, Praise and Worship Team, and was a psalmist. She was manager of Food 4 Your Soul Outreach Ministry; and a caregiver for friends, and always helped others. She was passionate about collecting angels, singing, reading, journal writing, cooking and baking (especially baking pound cakes), Sci-fi movies and shopping.
She leaves to forever cherish her beloved memories, her mother, Phyllis of Youngstown; father and his wife, Pastor Clarence and Jacqueline Jackson of Tallmadge; three children, Minister Cordell Jackson, Lawalyn L. Lewis, Jr. and LaNiya L. Lewis all of Youngstown; sisters, Cherelle P. Ward of Atlanta, GA, Kimberly (Thomas III) Harris of Youngstown, Darla White and Melissa A. (Shawn) Wainwright both of Columbus, and Chanya Jackson of Tallmadge; brothers, Clarence L. Jackson, Jr. and Cailen Jackson both of Tallmadge; goddaughter, Guiliana D. N. Johnson of Kent, godsisters, Felicia Williams of Youngstown and Michele McPeters of Columbus; devoted friend and father of her children, Lawalyn L. Lewis, Sr. of Youngstown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Otis and Ethel Jennings, James and Mary Jackson; and best friends, April Armour and Leslie Carson.
Visitation hours will be Saturday from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
