Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Ms. Betty Jean Thomas, 69, of Youngstown, who entered eternal rest at her home with her family by her side.

Ms. Thomas was born May 1, 1947 in Bennettsville, SC, a daughter of  Edward Sr. and Addie Mae McCall Thomas.  She attended Youngstown City Schools, and had worked at Brentwood Originals. She attended Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church.   A loving homemaker, Betty enjoyed cooking, shopping, bingo, and social games.  She especially loved having family outings and just being with her beloved family.

She leaves to cherish her beloved memories, four children, Dwayne E. Thomas, Linda Spivey, Stacey (Aadrian) Thomas, Jermaine (Kimberly) Thomas; two sisters, Minnie McKinney and Delores Moore all of Youngstown; 20 grandchildren, including, Marquala Thomas, whom she reared; 42 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son. Marvin Thomas, three sisters, Retha Mae Howard, Mable Bryant and Macie  Brandon; a brother, Edward “Bo” Thomas, Jr., and two grandsons, Omar Spivey and Aaron Mahdee.

Friends may call Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
