Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Allen James Dixon, Jr. 57, who departed this life Friday June 2, 2017 from heart failure after a lengthy illness in Tallahassee, Florida.

Mr. Dixon was born May 31, 1960 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was the 6th child of Allen James and Marie Washington Dixon Sr. Allen grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, as a student athlete where he played football for the South High School Warriors. He went on to play football at the University of Southern California.

Allen worked security most of his working years. He worked for private security firms and campus security at the Atlanta University Center’s Interdenominational Theological Center. He later retired to Tallahassee, Florida.

In 1987, he married Cara (Sanders) Dixon. From that union two children were born: Andrew Stewart Dixon and Alicia Cara Dixon, both of Stone Mountain, Georgia.

He leaves to mourn his passing his two children, five sisters, Henrietta Dixon-Collier, Patricia Dixon Crockett and Sharon Dixon all of Youngstown, Mary Dixon and Leslie (Graham) Henderson of Tallahassee, Florida; a brother, Charlie Dixon of Sacramento, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Dixon.
